Announcements and Important Events
Dear Interested Parents and Middle School Girls,
It is time to begin planning for the 2017 fall Ambassadors volleyball team. This year, Tammy Alft and John Greiner will be coaching the Ambassadors middle school varsity volleyball team. As in previous years, the focus will be on enhancing volleyball skills, knowledge of the game, team play, strategies for competition and creating lasting Godly relationships with other homeschooled girls.
In order to prepare for the season and team selections, Tammy and John will hold free skills and interests clinics for four weeks beginning Tuesday, May 30. Subsequent sessions will be on June 6, 13 and 20. Each skill training session will be held at Cornerstone Church of Knoxville from 4-6pm (1250 Heritage Lake Blvd, Knoxville, TN). In this, all interested girls can experience our coaching styles and learn specific individual and team skills.
Depending on the number of girls participating in the skill clinics and interested in playing during the fall season, we will select up to 9 girls for a varsity team. The varsity team selections and playtime during games will be determined by team spirit, attitude and overall skill and athleticism. The varsity team will play competitive volleyball while demonstrating Christ's example of humility and grace in spirit of the game. Team selections will be made by early July.
Also, if there are enough other interested girls and other parents are available to coach, a junior varsity team will be selected to prepare girls newer to the sport for higher level play. Emphasis for junior varsity play will be more on skill development and equal exposure team play while demonstrating the same values stated above for the varsity team.
Practice sessions for Junior Varsity and Varsity for the upcoming fall season (after free skill sessions) will be at least once per week on Wednesday (4-6pm, beginning late-June / early-July). More practice dates may be added. The fall season games begin near the end of August but detailed games schedules have not been formed yet.
If interested in joining the skill clinics and the Ambassadors middle school volleyball program, please contact Tammy Alft at 865-387-8026 or John Greiner at 865-323-1014.
More to come as we approach May 30.
P.S. More About the Knoxville Ambassadors:
Welcome to the home of the Knoxville Ambassadors (http://www.knoxvilleambassadors.com). Operating under the direction of the Knoxville Christian Home Educator’s Athletic Association (KCHEAA), the Ambassadors purpose is to honor and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ as we seek to humbly serve members of His body in the home school community. Our guiding verse is II COR 5:20, with the first part of that verse reading "We are therefore Christ's ambassadors......."
We believe that home school students have the ability and deserve the opportunity to excel in the type of competitive programs that their peers in public and private school enjoy. Our desire is to build an excellent reputation in the community which will honor the Lord and create a positive reflection on home education. Our teams play against public and private schools as well as other homeschool teams in the area.
The goal of the Ambassadors is to eventually offer most sports you would find in a typical high school program. For more information please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
